Immunizations and Records for 20-21

Immunizations and Records for 20-21
Last Friday  Katherine Graff BSN, RN School and Child Care Immunization Nurse Consultant at DOH provided an overview of the State Board of Health immunization WACs effective August 1, 2020 related to:

·     Tdap change: Kids given Tdap before age 10 will now be required to have their Booster dose to enter 7th grade (was previously 6th grade). This should not be an issue for most students unless from another state.

·     MYIR / CIS record: Schools are required to obtain from parents Certificate of Immunization Status document that is medically authorized. This can easily be printed from the States MYIR. This year’s difference is that parents must supply a Medically Verified Record not just a form they sign with guesswork. This is due to the school ON OR BEFORE THE 1st Day of ATTENDANCE.

The Archdiocese of Seattle  immunization policy is that every student enrolled in a Level 1 Catholic School in the Archdiocese of Seattle shall be immunized against vaccine-preventable diseases caused by infectious agents in accordance with the immunization schedule adopted by the Washington State Department of Health Services. The only exception to the foregoing requirements for students in our Catholic schools is a medical exemption signed by a licensed physician (M.D., N.D., D.O., ARNP, or PA)) authorized to practice in the State of Washington, including the physician’s license number. Failure to obtain required immunizations prior to admission or to maintain required immunizations during enrollment may result in a denial of attendance.
