Paul Regelbrugge, an educator, professional development and curriculum coordinator for the Holocaust Center for Humanity has brought forward an incredible opportunity (free of charge!) to provide teachers (specifically middle school educators at our Catholic schools) important resources, professional development, and lesson plans in the hopes that all of our Middle Schools are able to adequately teach to this important topic. Currently, there is legislation in Washington state which “strongly encourages” teaching about the Holocaust in all public schools from upper elementary through high school, and requires their adherence for anyone indeed teaching lessons of the Holocaust, they are truly “best practices and guidelines” for any educator in this regard, public or private.” However, there is no alignment within our Catholic schools of how this is being done.

Here are the training dates that we have landed on – we hope that you can join! All trainings are virtual (via ZOOM – see invite below) and clock hours are available with registration. Registration will be sent out the first week of December (not required for participation, but required for clock hours). You are invited to join all three sessions, however, you will benefit from even joining in on just one – if you miss the first session, you can still join in on the second or third!
