NCEA Parent News – Perfectionist Teens

Important mental health habits—including coping, resilience, and good judgment—help adolescents to achieve overall well-being and set the stage for positive mental health in adulthood. The anxiety epidemic among youth today might not be a surprise to parents and teachers. What surprises many is that perfectionism is usually a form of anxiety in high-achieving teens. Share this important message (available in English [send.ncea.org] and Spanish [send.ncea.org]) on how to spot the signs of a perfectionistic teen with the families in your school. Be sure to make it available to all staff and faculty, put it on the school website, hang it on bulletin boards, post it in classrooms, reprint it in church bulletins, put copies in the school’s main and counseling offices, the school clinic and in back of the church.
