Religion Textbooks: United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Conformity Review Guidance assists schools and parishes in the conformity of catechetical texts and series in an authentic and complete way to the Catechism.   The Office for Catholic Schools advocates for Catholic schools to use and apply the most current Conformity Review, USCCB Conformity List as of  USCCBConformityList6.22.22 when making curriculum and instructional materials purchases.

Some textbooks receive an “Imprimatur“. An Imprimatur is an official license by the Roman Catholic Church to affirm that an  ecclesiastical or religious book is in good standing – it is a stamp or guarantee that something is in a good standing. Right now, an example of an imprimatur at the high school level for religion textbooks is, ProLife Curriculum: Principles and Choices  (Grades 9 – 12) and the imprimatur is from Archbishop Sartain. (The imprimatur is located in the front of a religion textbook included with the publishing information). Some of our formation resources have been lifted up by Archbishop Etienne for your considerations. The Sacred Story Institute, Founder Rev. William Watson, has received formal endorsement from Archbishop Etienne. Please see letter: Archbishop Paul D. Etienne DD STL -Endorsement of Sacred Story Institute 10-17-19  heartily supporting the work of the Missionary Discipleship Formation through the Sacred Story Institute.

Specifically, approved textbooks correlated to the Archdiocese of Seattle Religion Standards – Elementary and Secondary Schools
