Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Without Borders,” that we might celebrate Our Lady by affirming the fact that devotion to her knows no borders. As a signature archdiocesan Share the Journey event, people of all cultural families, including the European American family, are invited to join in this wonderful celebration this Saturday, December 1st. Please know that the program is mostly in Spanish, and the Office for Hispanic Ministry invites all to this event to create opportunities to “encounter” one another – as people, as Catholics, as devotees of Our Lady, who knows no borders.  We hope to see you there! More info available online at http://www.seattlearchdiocese.org/Ethnic/Hispano/guadalupe.aspx.

Supporting Families Facing Deportation- The Parish Companion Program Webinar

The increase in the use of immigration detention, the elimination of removal priorities, and the uncertainty surrounding Temporary Protected Status and DACA have caused confusion and uncertainty for immigrant families. In response to these changes, the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland created the Parish Companion Program. Drawing from the diocesan Welcoming the Stranger initiative, the Parish Companion Program trains community members to serve as “companions” for different scenarios they could encounter when accompanying families facing deportation. It also offers an opportunity to meet people from other church communities who care about similar immigration issues and understand the reality facing undocumented families. Join a multi-disciplinary team from the Diocese of Cleveland to explore the Parish Companion Program and how to replicate this program in your agency, community, or parish. Date and Time: Thu, Dec 6, 2018 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM PST. Register here.
