Cultures United Soccer Festival – August 24-25, 2019 Tacoma

Shared by the Office of Pastoral Care and Outreach

The “Pitch for Hope” initiative, a joint project of the World Jewish Congress and the Chelsea Football Club, is bringing an opportunity to Tacoma, WA that will create an atmosphere of inclusiveness and multicultural celebration. The purpose is twofold: (1) To unite immigrants and refugees of all faiths with the broader community and (2) To combat racism, xenophobia, discrimination, and anti-Semitism through sport.  This event is set to be hosted at the South End Recreational Area on August 24th & 25th, 2019.  The main attraction will be a friendly soccer tournament, available for FREE to all interested youth and young adult teams.  A humble cultural festival will complement the tournament, featuring music, artisans, service providers, and food, a way for participants to connect with their diverse neighbors from many different cultures and faiths.  Please register a soccer team today!  And please join us at the event, an opportunity to encounter your neighbor!
