2021 Annual Private Schools Summer Conference – OSPI

This year private school educators are invited to choose up to three FREE virtual professional learning opportunities as part of the OSPI’s Annual Private Schools Summer Conference.

  • Each session is FREE to private school educators employed by State Board of Education approved private schools.
  • Training materials are included.
  • Clock hours are available.
  • The last day to register for all conference sessions is Monday, July 26, 2021 at 12:00 pm.

August 2-3 from 9:00am-4:00pm – Social-Emotional Learning: Practical Strategies for Implementation. Presented by Paul Bernabei and Kevin Brennan, Top 20 Training.   Register here

Participants will learn practical strategies for implementing social-emotional learning (SEL) in schools. Presentations will focus on the social-emotional learning of participants and how they can enhance the SEL of their students and the entire school community. Tapping into the core competencies of SEL (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making), Top 20 Training uses common language and effective tools to address everyday situations and challenges. All training materials and FREE clock hours are included.

August 5-6 from 9:00am-4:00pm –  Culturally Responsive Education  Presented by Dr. Adeyemi Stembridge, Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession  Register here

Participants will learn about the background, context, themes, and practices of Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) to build and deepen culturally responsive classroom practices and schools. Sessions will focus on cultural identity and rigor and plan engaging learning experiences that center on what educators want students to understand and feel. Participants will learn in whole group sessions lead by Dr. Stembridge, author of Culturally Responsive Education in the Classroom, in smaller, interactive breakout sessions and job-alike/team groups.

Presented by the Association of Educational Service Districts (AESD) in partnership with the Center for Strengthening the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and OSPI.

The Future-Focused Educators’ Summit offers sessions on equitable practices and meeting the needs of diverse populations through creating, connecting, collaborating, and orchestrating change together. The Summit is open to ALL school staff–public and private educators–regardless of position, and includes two pathways:

Leadership Pathway, July 26-29: Equitable, Inclusive, and Effective Leadership: Administrators will have the opportunity and dedicated time to analyze current systems and practices, connect with initiatives  and colleagues, and strategically plan for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond.

Educators’ Pathway, July 27-29: Equitable, Inclusive, and Effective Teaching for 2021 and Beyond: Educators will plan for different learning environments, explore integration of best instructional and content practices, connect and collaborate intentionally to prepare for the school year, and inspire yourself and others by fueling passions for learning.

Clock hours for this session are available, including up to 15 STEM clock hours.
