CIC Level I Policy: OCS Policy information, Section 2: Curriculum, pp. 36 – 37. Specifically, C. ALL teachers responsible for teaching the PreK-12 Religion Curriculum and Standards must be practicing Catholics, witnesses to the faith, and participating in the Christ in the Classroom Program – Level 1 Catechetical Certification for Catholic schools. Teachers shall have up to three years to complete Christ in the Classroom Program (CIC) Level 1 Catechetical Certification through a program that has been vetted and approved by OCS. This means that a teacher of religion has 3 years to secure their catechetical certification. However, once the Symbolon license is secured through the Augustine Institute, once the license is activated, the Symbolon license is accessible for 365 days.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Augustine Institute has moved the Symbolon online program to a new platform that is more robust and has more capabilities – no content changes – just more robust tools behind the scenes. The NEW platform is ready and much more user-friendly for the teachers and for the local school’s Symbolon adminstrator. THERE IS NO CHANGE IN CONTENT. The seat/license ($39.95 each) allows the teacher of religion to have 365 days to complete the Symbolon series.

MOVING FOWARD: ALL new schools starting CIC Level I through the Symbolon series for their teachers of religion will now be placed into the NEW platform. Once the subscriptions are activated, the one year ticker begins on each license and your local Symbolon adminstrator can monitor/motivate your teachers to begin and complete the 26 hour video series within those 365 days.

COSTS: $39.95 seat/license for each teacher; $59.95 for one administrator seat/license per school who has access to monitor/view your school’s activity, see your teachers’ progress, tracking, plus other administrative access levels/reports. Ordering and payment method occurs directly through the Augustine Institute.
