Benefits Memo: Please read the attached update from Integrated Payroll and Benefits Services. It includes information about W2s, pension billing, health care deductibles and more.

New Teacher Orientation Change of Date: Please note the following dates and locations for the 2024/2025 New Teacher/Staff Orientation. We are offering two sessions, one in the north end and one in the south. The date for the south end session has changed (different than what’s on the 24/25 OCS calendar sent out previously). Registration information will be sent out in the spring.

  • South End Session: Monday, August 12th @ Bellarmine High School, Tacoma
  • North End Session: Tuesday, August 13th @ Holy Rosary Parish, Edmonds

Advocacy Request: There are a number of legislative bills this year that will impact private schools, and we could use your advocacy support in these areas. In particular, House Bill 1377 would allow private schools to provide approved clock-hour P.D. on cultural competency, diversity, equity, and inclusion (CCDEI), which is required for teacher certification renewal. Currently, private schools can only use state-approved presenters and this bill would change that. This and a number of other important bills are being considered. Please take a moment to read over this information from the Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS) and consider offering your advocacy support. Thank you!

Important Dates

Please take a moment to read the latest bulletin from the State Board of Education that includes information on these and other upcoming deadlines/events.

  • February 15: Change of Information Forms Due (for schools with recent leadership changes)
  • February 29, 9–11am: Information Session for Participation in ESEA Federal Programs (Zoom link in bulletin link above)
  • April 1: Private Schools Applications Due

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Pam Schwartz
