A call for national prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary – October 7

+September 30, 2020
Dear Parish Leadership,

Peace be with you! Next week, Wednesday, October 7, the Archdiocese of Seattle will join in solidarity with Archbishop Gomez, president of the USCCB, to celebrate the memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary. This national prayer event is designed to unite Catholics across the country in a moment of prayer for America at this time when there is so much unrest and uncertainty.

Together, in the local Church and with the Church in North America, we will pray for Our Lady’s special intercession to seek healing and to ask her to help lead us to Jesus.

I encourage you and your parish to participate by hosting your own parish rosary. Please invite parishioners to join you in the parish for a community rosary. You may also wish to livestream your parish rosary using the hashtag #RosaryforAmerica. Alternatively, you may wish to promote the live prayer event led by Archbishop Gomez at noon on the USCCB’s YouTube
channel and USCCB’s Facebook page. Here is a link to the promotional materials you may use:

We are inviting the faithful to join us in prayer for our country, asking them to share where they are praying from, post a photo of their rosary, and leave a prayer intention for the nation. Please share this information with your parish and invite your parishioners to join this communal prayer opportunity — whether at your parish or online. United together we will ask Our Lady for her intercession during this troubling time. Thank you for your consideration of this request. As always, you remain in my prayers.

In the heart of Christ,

Most Reverend Paul D. Etienne, DD, STL
Archbishop of Seattle
