American Red Cross Mental Health Training for Covid-19

Subject: Red Cross Mental Health Training for COVID-19

5.7.20 Guidance from the Mental Health Ministry Committee: Red Cross Mental Health Training for Covid-19  is strikingly similar to MHFA in its approach. The information is good for sure. Like MHFA,  this is information that is relevant for everyone. This course is online, you can watch it when it works for you and it is short. Like MHFA, there are some good suggestions for how to manage the stress, which you can continue supplement.

Hello from Kelli Thode at the Northwest Washington Chapter of the American Red Cross!

We have had such a positive response to this free online class, I wanted to be sure to share it with all of YOU. Please feel free to share personally and professionally: We know that people are looking for resources to help them navigate the stress they face associated with this global health crisis. This free course, Mental Health First Aid for COVID-19, offered by the American Red Cross will help build resilience and support yourself and others during and following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others During COVID-19 is an online only course designed to help individuals build resilience and support themselves and lend support to others during and following the COVID-19 outbreak. The course length is estimated at 60 minutes. The topics covered in the course include:

  • Recognizing Stress in Adults, Teens and Children
  • Practicing Mental Health First Aid
  • Caring for Yourself
  • Supporting Your Family
  • Supporting Yourself and Coworkers at Work

The course will be free to enrollees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another free resource for the younger generation is Monster Guard – a mobile app for children (aged 7-11) to teach them about how to prepare for real-life emergencies.
